Indications
Revlimid (lenalidomide) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior therapy and have shown a partial response or better. It is also indicated for the treatment of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes associated with deletion of chromosome 5q, in combination with erythropoietin. Revlimid acts as an immunomodulator, being effective in reducing the number of malignant cells and improving red blood cell production in anemic patients. Furthermore, it can be used in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents to enhance treatment efficacy.
Composition
Each Revlimid tablet contains 25 mg of lenalidomide as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Revlimid is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lenalidomide or any of its excipients. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with a history of venous thromboembolism and in those with severe renal insufficiency or severe liver disease.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of thromboembolic disease, as well as in those with cardiovascular diseases. Renal and hepatic function should be monitored periodically during treatment. Revlimid can cause teratogenic effects; therefore, adequate pregnancy control must be ensured in women of childbearing potential before and during treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
