Indications

Restasis is indicated for the treatment of inflammation and dry eye in patients with keratoconjunctivitis sicca, a condition characterized by decreased tear production. This medication helps increase the production of natural tears in the eyes, which can improve lubrication and ocular comfort. Its use is recommended in patients who have not achieved sufficient relief with artificial tears or in those with persistent symptoms of dry eye. It is essential to follow the doctor's instructions for its administration and duration of treatment.

Composition

Each Restasis vial contains: Cyclosporine 0.05% as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Restasis is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cyclosporine or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in active or untreated eye infections, as it could worsen the condition.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of recurrent eye infections. Also, the use of contact lenses should be evaluated by the physician, and if necessary, it is recommended to remove them before applying the medication and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. It is important not to touch the applicator tip with any surface to avoid contamination.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 25 °C (59 and 77 °F). Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of reach of children and in its original packaging to protect it from light.
