Indications

Purinethol (Mercaptopurine) is indicated in the treatment of certain neoplasms, including acute leukemias, as well as in autoimmune diseases. Its use is common in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It can also be used as part of a treatment regimen for Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis, due to its immunosuppressive properties. It is important that the use of Mercaptopurine is supervised by a specialized physician, who will determine the appropriate duration and dosage based on the patient's condition.

Composition

Each Purinethol tablet contains 50 mg of mercaptopurine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Purinethol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mercaptopurine or to any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe impaired liver or kidney function, and in those with active infections or who have recently received live virus vaccination.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver diseases, as Mercaptopurine can cause liver toxicity. Storage
