Indications
Picoprep is a medication indicated for bowel preparation prior to diagnostic procedures such as colonoscopies, as well as for the treatment of occasional constipation. Its combined formulation of sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide, and citric acid works by promoting adequate and safe bowel evacuation. This product is useful in patients requiring effective bowel cleansing, ensuring that the necessary standards for medical examinations are met. Its use is recommended under the supervision of a physician, who will evaluate the need for its administration based on the patient's clinical condition.
Composition
Each dose of Picoprep contains: 10 mg of Sodium Picosulfate, 3.5 g of Magnesium Oxide, and 12 g of Citric Acid.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, intestinal obstruction, or those with conditions that may be aggravated by dehydration. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal disease or heart failure.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Picoprep in patients with pre-existing gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those who present dehydration or electrolyte disturbances. It is important to ensure adequate hydration during treatment. A doctor should be consulted if adverse or unusual symptoms occur.
