Indications
Pensiral (pentoxifylline) is indicated in the treatment of intermittent claudication, improving blood circulation in patients with peripheral vascular diseases. It is also used in the treatment of microcirculation disorders, such as Raynaud's syndrome and in certain cases of diabetic foot. Its mechanism of action is based on the improvement of erythrocyte deformability and the reduction of blood viscosity, which contributes to the improvement of blood flow and tissue oxygenation. Its use is recommended in patients with chronic vascular insufficiency and in those who present symptoms related to altered blood flow.
Composition
Each Pensiral tablet contains 400 mg of pentoxifylline as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other components that facilitate the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Pensiral is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pentoxifylline or to any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of active bleeding, such as gastrointestinal bleeding, and in patients with a history of acute myocardial infarction in the first few weeks after the event. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of arrhythmias or conditions that predispose to bleeding.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, as a dose reduction may be required. Likewise, it is recommended to monitor blood pressure in patients with a history of hypotension. It is important to avoid simultaneous use with anticoagulants and medications that may affect coagulation, due to the possible increased risk of bleeding. The physician should be informed if adverse effects occur during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 °C.
