Indications
Patanol is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, including ocular itching, redness, and tearing. Olopatadine, its active ingredient, acts as an antihistamine, blocking the action of histamine at H1 receptors, which helps reduce inflammation and allergic manifestations in the eyes. This medication can be used by adults and children over 3 years of age. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions regarding the frequency and duration of treatment to obtain the best results.
Composition
Each milliliter of ophthalmic solution contains 2 mg of olopatadine (as olopatadine hydrochloride) and excipients: sodium chloride, disodium phosphate, monosodium phosphate, purified water, and preservative (benzalkonium chloride).
Contraindications
Patanol is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to olopatadine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in people with a history of severe adverse reactions to other antihistamines. Use in children under 3 years of age should be evaluated by a doctor.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing eye conditions. Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment. Simultaneous use with other eye drops is not recommended without prior consultation with a doctor. If persistent eye irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Storage
Store at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.
