Indications
Pantozol 40 mg is indicated for the treatment of conditions related to gastric hypersecretion, including:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers.
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
- Prevention of ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in high-risk patients.
Pantoprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the proton pump in the parietal cells of the stomach, reducing gastric acid production, which helps relieve symptoms and promote the healing of lesions in the esophagus and stomach.
Composition
Each Pantozol tablet contains 40 mg of pantoprazole as pantoprazole sodium.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Likewise, it should not be administered to people with a history of severe allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as pantoprazole elimination may be affected. It is important to perform adequate medical follow-up in patients presenting warning symptoms, such as involuntary weight loss, persistent vomiting, or difficulty swallowing.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
