Indications

Pantozol is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to excessive acid production in the stomach. It is used for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which presents with symptoms such as heartburn and regurgitation. It is also prescribed for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition in which the stomach produces too much acid. Its use is indicated for adults and can be administered in various doses depending on medical evaluation.

Composition

Each Pantozol tablet contains 40 mg of pantoprazole as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.

Contraindications

Pantozol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in cases of severe liver failure or in combination with certain medications that require a specific gastric pH for their effectiveness.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver diseases, as well as in those who present gastrointestinal symptoms that may be indicative of malignancy, such as involuntary weight loss, persistent vomiting, or dysphagia. Furthermore, it is suggested to evaluate the presence of gastrointestinal infections before starting treatment. Prolonged use of pantoprazole may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures and vitamin B12 deficiency.
