Indications
Pantozol is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to gastric hyperacidity. It is used in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is characterized by inflammation of the esophagus due to exposure to gastric acid. It is also indicated for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it is useful in the prevention of ulcers related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in patients at risk of gastric complications.
Composition
Each tablet contains 20 mg of pantoprazole as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Pantozol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or to any other component of the formula. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of severe liver disease and in those who present nutrient absorption deficiencies.
Precautions
It is important to perform medical follow-up in patients presenting alarm symptoms, such as involuntary weight loss, persistent vomiting, or melena, as these may indicate the presence of more serious conditions. Caution is recommended when using pantoprazole in patients with a history of osteoporosis, due to the possible relationship between prolonged use of proton pump inhibitors and the risk of bone fractures.
