Indications
Openvas Co is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. The combination of olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, acts synergistically to lower blood pressure. This dual action allows for more effective control of hypertension and may improve clinical outcomes in patients with cardiovascular risk factors. It may also be considered in cases of heart failure and in patients at high risk of cardiovascular events.
Composition
Each Openvas Co tablet contains: 20 mg of olmesartan medoxomil and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as active ingredients. Excipients: corn starch, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Openvas Co is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) or angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal failure or to those with persistent hypokalemia.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of renal, hepatic, or cardiovascular diseases. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes should be performed, especially at the beginning of treatment. Concomitant use of other antihypertensives should be under strict medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, and keep out of reach of children.
