Indications
Octostim (Desmopressin) is indicated for the treatment of central diabetes insipidus, which may be of idiopathic origin or associated with conditions such as hypothalamic lesions. This medication is effective in reducing polyuria and polydipsia, thereby improving the quality of life of affected patients. It is also used in the management of nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) in children over 5 years of age, as well as in the prevention of bleeding in patients with hemophilia type A and von Willebrand disease, where an increase in coagulation factor activity is required. It is essential that the use of Octostim be supervised by a physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's individual needs.
Composition
Each Octostim ampoule contains: Desmopressin Acetate 15 mcg, excipients q.s.
Contraindications
Octostim is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to desmopressin or any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated in those with severe kidney disease or severe hyponatremia, as it may aggravate these conditions.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of epilepsy or migraines, as well as in those with conditions that may predispose to hyponatremia. It is important to monitor blood sodium levels, especially in elderly patients or those receiving concomitant treatments that may affect fluid balance.
Storage
Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30 °C). Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
