Indications

Nuvigil is indicated for the treatment of excessive sleepiness associated with sleep disorders, including narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). This medication acts as a wakefulness-promoting agent, helping to improve alertness in patients with these conditions. Additionally, it can be used in the management of excessive daytime sleepiness related to shift work sleep disorder.

Composition

Each Nuvigil tablet contains 150 mg of armodafinil as the active ingredient. The excipients in the formula include lactose, starch, among other inactive components that allow for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Nuvigil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to armodafinil, modafinil, or any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with a history of severe cardiovascular disorders or those who present with severe anxiety, agitation, or a history of substance abuse.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Nuvigil to patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, cardiovascular problems, or hypertension. The use of this medication may cause adverse effects such as insomnia, headache, nausea, and dry mouth. It is advisable to monitor patients for any adverse symptoms and consider adjusting the dose if necessary.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
