Indications

Novefazol is indicated for the treatment of hyperkalemia, which is an increase in potassium levels in the blood. This medication acts as a cation exchanger, helping to eliminate excess potassium through the intestinal tract. It is used in situations where a rapid reduction in potassium levels is required, such as in patients with acute or chronic renal failure, as well as in those receiving treatment with medications that increase potassium levels. Additionally, it can be useful in the management of conditions that predispose to hyperkalemia, such as dehydration or the use of potassium-rich diets.

Composition

Each Novefazol sachet contains 15 g of Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate, as well as excipients necessary for the suspension formulation.

Contraindications

Novefazol is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with intestinal obstruction or intestinal perforation. It should not be administered in cases of anuria or in patients with normal or low potassium levels.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, as a rapid reduction in potassium can have adverse effects. It is important to monitor potassium levels and kidney function during treatment. Additionally, concomitant use with other medications that may raise potassium levels is recommended to be avoided.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
