Indications
Ninlaro (Ixazomib) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior treatment. It is used in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone in patients who have shown a response to previous treatments. Its mechanism of action is based on proteasome inhibition, which contributes to the accumulation of pro-apoptotic proteins and the decrease of anti-apoptotic proteins, thus promoting programmed cell death of malignant cells.
Composition
Each Ninlaro capsule contains 4 mg of ixazomib as the active ingredient. Excipients include microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate capsule formulation.
Contraindications
Ninlaro is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ixazomib or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease or in those with uncontrolled active infections.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of peripheral neuropathy, as this condition may worsen. Likewise, liver and hematological function should be monitored before and during treatment, as cases of thrombocytopenia and neutropenia have been reported. Women of childbearing age should use effective contraception during treatment and for up to 90 days after stopping it.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
