Indications

Naltrexone is indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence in patients who have achieved complete abstinence and who, upon evaluation, do not require acute detoxification treatment. Its use is aimed at maintaining abstinence and preventing relapse in patients who have completed a detoxification program. Additionally, Naltrexone is also used in the treatment of alcohol use disorder, helping to reduce the craving for alcohol and maintain abstinence in patients seeking to stop drinking. It is important that Naltrexone treatment is part of a comprehensive program that includes psychological and social support.

Composition

Each Naltrexone tablet contains 50 mg of Naltrexone as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation and preservation of the medication.

Contraindications

Naltrexone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Naltrexone or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients who have recently used opioids, as it may precipitate a withdrawal syndrome. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver failure and in those experiencing an acute alcoholic crisis.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Naltrexone to patients with a history of depression, mental disorders, or who are being treated with antidepressants. Constant medical monitoring during treatment is essential. Naltrexone can interfere with the effectiveness of opioid analgesics, so concomitant use should be avoided.

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
