Indications

Mysimba is indicated for the treatment of obesity in adults, as part of a comprehensive weight loss program that includes a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. This medication is suitable for patients with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or more, or 27 kg/m² or more in the presence of weight-related comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia. The combination of naltrexone and bupropion acts on the appetite control centers in the brain, helping to decrease caloric intake and facilitate weight loss. Treatment efficacy should be assessed at 16 weeks, considering continued treatment if adequate weight loss has been achieved.

Composition

Each Mysimba tablet contains: Naltrexone 8 mg and Bupropion 90 mg. Excipients: lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of seizures, eating disorders, or those who are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). It should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula or with a history of substance abuse.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of psychiatric illnesses, as well as in those with medical conditions that may increase the risk of seizures. It is important to adequately monitor blood pressure and liver function during treatment.
