Indications
Monurol (Fosfomycin) is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections, especially acute cystitis caused by susceptible microorganisms. This medication is effective in the treatment of urinary tract infections due to its broad-spectrum antibacterial action, which includes gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and its ability to achieve therapeutic concentrations in urine. Its use is recommended in patients with symptoms of urinary tract infection, such as dysuria, pollakiuria, and suprapubic pain. Fosfomycin acts by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in cell death of the pathogens responsible for the infection.
Composition
Each sachet of Monurol contains 3 g of fosfomycin trometamol as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the dissolution and administration of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as it may affect drug elimination and increase the risk of adverse effects.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in its use in patients with kidney or liver diseases, as well as in those taking other medications that may affect renal function. Monurol should not be used as a first-line treatment for complicated urinary tract infections or recurrent infections without prior medical evaluation.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
