Indications

Monolatan is indicated for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Its active ingredient, Latanoprost, works by increasing the drainage of aqueous humor through the trabecular meshwork and the uveoscleral pathway, which helps to lower intraocular pressure. This medication is particularly useful in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and can be used as a monotherapy or in combination with other anti-glaucoma agents. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions and to have regular intraocular pressure checks.

Composition

Each mL of Monolatan contains 50 mcg of Latanoprost. It also includes excipients such as sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and purified water.

Contraindications

Monolatan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Latanoprost or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of active ocular infections or inflammations, nor in patients with a history of uveitis or iritis.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of respiratory diseases, especially bronchial asthma. Likewise, it is important to consider the use of this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in patients with cardiac or blood pressure disorders. Contact of the dropper with the eye or contaminated surfaces should be avoided to prevent product contamination.

Storage

Monolatan should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
