Indications
Modiodal (modafinil) is indicated for the treatment of excessive sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea. It is also used in the treatment of shift work sleep disorder. Modafinil's action is to promote wakefulness and improve attention and concentration in patients experiencing these disorders. Its use should be part of a comprehensive approach that includes non-pharmacological measures for managing sleepiness.
Composition
Each Modiodal tablet contains:
Modafinil 200 mg
Excipients: citric acid, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Modiodal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to modafinil or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe cardiovascular or psychiatric disorders, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of substance abuse, as modafinil may have abuse potential. It is also important to monitor patients for possible adverse reactions, especially those with liver or kidney problems. Close monitoring during treatment is recommended to adjust the dose if necessary.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
