Indications
Mircera is indicated for the treatment of anemia in adult patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This medication is used in patients who require renal replacement therapy and are undergoing hemodialysis treatment, or in those who are receiving conservative treatment. Additionally, Mircera can be used in patients with anemia associated with chemotherapy in cases of non-small cell lung cancer, as well as in those experiencing anemia due to other disease-related factors.
The administration of Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta helps stimulate red blood cell production in the bone marrow, resulting in an increase in hemoglobin levels. It is crucial that treatment with Mircera is carried out under strict medical supervision, ensuring that hemoglobin levels are maintained within appropriate ranges to avoid complications related to hypertension and other adverse effects.
Composition
Each Mircera syringe contains 250 mcg of Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Mircera is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta or to any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with uncontrolled hypertension or to those with a history of thromboembolic events related to the use of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of arterial hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or in those who have experienced previous adverse reactions to similar medications. It is important to regularly monitor hemoglobin levels and blood pressure during treatment.
