Indications
Mipramid is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by various conditions, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It is also used in the management of gastrointestinal disorders, such as diabetic gastroparesis, and to facilitate evacuation in patients with gastric emptying problems. Additionally, it can be effective in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting. Its antiemetic action is due to its ability to block dopamine receptors in the central nervous system, as well as its effect on gastrointestinal motility.
Composition
Each Mipramid tablet contains 10 mg of metoclopramide as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the medicine.
Contraindications
Mipramid should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide or any of the product's excipients. It is contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction or intestinal perforation, as well as in those with Parkinson's disease and during lactation. Its use is contraindicated in people who experience seizures or have a history of severe depression.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or those taking other medications that affect the central nervous system. Mipramid may cause side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness; therefore, care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. In elderly or debilitated patients, it is recommended to adjust the dose and monitor the response to treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiration date indicated on the package.
