Indications
Minraam is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used as part of a treatment plan that includes an appropriate diet and physical exercise. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing intestinal glucose absorption. It is especially useful in overweight and obese patients and can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin when metformin monotherapy does not provide adequate blood glucose control.
Composition
Each Minraam tablet contains 500 mg of metformin as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others, which facilitate its formulation and presentation.
Contraindications
Minraam is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe kidney disease, liver failure, lactic acidosis, and in situations of severe dehydration and sepsis. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of diabetic ketoacidosis or in those who will receive iodinated contrast agents for radiological studies.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate kidney disease, liver disease, and in those undergoing surgical procedures. Renal function monitoring is recommended before and during treatment. Additionally, alcohol consumption should be avoided, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. It is important for the patient to inform their doctor about any other medications they are taking and their complete medical history.
Storage
Minraam should be stored in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
