Indications
Minirin Melt is indicated for the treatment of central diabetes insipidus, which is characterized by excessive urine production and extreme thirst. This medication is also used for nocturnal enuresis in children over 5 years of age who do not respond to non-pharmacological treatments. Desmopressin, its active ingredient, acts as an analog of the antidiuretic hormone, which helps reduce urine production and improve water retention in the body.
Composition
Each Minirin Melt tablet contains 120 mcg of desmopressin. Additionally, it contains excipients such as mannitol, citric acid, and flavorings that facilitate its sublingual administration.
Contraindications
Minirin Melt should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to desmopressin or any of the product's excipients. It is contraindicated in conditions that may result in excessive fluid retention, such as severe renal failure or syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, as desmopressin can cause fluid retention. Renal function should also be monitored in patients receiving long-term treatment with this medication. It is important to adjust the dose in elderly patients or those with conditions that may alter drug elimination.
Storage
Store Minirin Melt at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
