Indications
Merapur is a medication indicated for ovarian stimulation in women seeking to achieve adequate ovulation. It is indicated in fertility treatments, specifically in women with primary or secondary ovarian insufficiency, as well as in in vitro fertilization (IVF) protocols. Menotropin, its active ingredient, acts as a gonadotropin that promotes follicular development and estrogen production, which facilitates oocyte maturation. Additionally, it is recommended in cases of anovulation or in women who have menstrual cycle alterations due to hormonal causes.
Composition
Each ampoule of Merapur contains Menotropin, which is a combination of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) obtained from the urine of postmenopausal women. In addition, each vial includes excipients that allow for proper preservation and administration.
Contraindications
Merapur is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to menotropin or any of its components. It should not be used in cases of pituitary or gonadal tumors, as well as in pregnant or lactating women. It is also contraindicated in situations of vaginal bleeding of unknown origin and in cases of untreated endocrine diseases that affect fertility.
Precautions
It is important to monitor hormone levels and the course of treatment, as improper use of menotropin can lead to ovarian hyperstimulation. Continuous medical monitoring is recommended during treatment. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of thrombosis or cardiovascular diseases.
Storage
Merapur should be stored in its original packaging at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Avoid exposure to light and do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
