Indications

Memantine is indicated for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. This medication acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist, modulating glutamate activity in the brain, which can help improve cognitive function and slow the progression of symptoms associated with the disease. Memantine is used in combination with other treatments for Alzheimer's disease, contributing to a better quality of life for patients.

Composition

Each Memantine tablet contains 20 mg of Memantine (as hydrochloride) and excipients necessary for its formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Memantine or any of the excipients present in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of epilepsy or seizures, as well as those with severe renal insufficiency.

Precautions

It is recommended to use Memantine with caution in patients with a history of seizures, as well as in those with moderate renal insufficiency. Regular medical follow-up is essential to assess treatment response and detect possible adverse effects. Likewise, interaction with other medications that act on the central nervous system should be considered.

Storage
