Indications

Mefaprix (Mifepristone) is indicated for the termination of pregnancy up to the seventh week of gestation, in combination with a prostaglandin analog. This medication acts as a progesterone antagonist, which causes the breakdown of the endometrium and facilitates the expulsion of uterine contents. In addition, Mefaprix can also be used in the treatment of Cushing's syndrome in patients with adrenal tumors that are not surgical or in those who are not candidates for surgery. It is important to note that Mefaprix must be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional, ensuring proper monitoring and necessary care during the process.

Composition

Each Mefaprix tablet contains 200 mg of Mifepristone as an active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, corn starch, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Mefaprix is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to mifepristone or any component of the formula, as well as in those with ectopic pregnancy, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, adrenal insufficiency, or those undergoing anticoagulant treatment. It should not be used in women who wish to continue the pregnancy after administration of the medication.

Precautions

It is essential that Mefaprix be used under strict medical supervision. Special care should be taken in patients with a history of bleeding disorders, cardiovascular diseases, or severe liver conditions. Medical follow-up is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and rule out possible complications. Furthermore, the use of Mefaprix in combination with certain medications that may interfere with its efficacy or increase the risk of adverse effects should be avoided.

Storage

Store Mefaprix at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
