Indications

Losartan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and dilated cardiomyopathy. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension. Its mechanism of action consists of selective inhibition of the angiotensin II receptor, which allows vasodilation and a decrease in blood pressure.

Composition

Each Losartan tablet contains 50 mg of losartan potassium as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the correct formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Losartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan or any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, and in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or hypovolemia. Likewise, its use is not recommended in patients with severe kidney damage.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of angioedema, liver disease, renal failure, or in those receiving treatments that alter electrolyte balance. It is important to monitor potassium levels and kidney function during treatment. Losartan may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so it is recommended to avoid activities that require mental alertness at the beginning of treatment.

Store in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
