Indications

Lorelin is indicated in the treatment of various medical conditions. Its main use is in hormone therapy for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, as well as in the treatment of endometriosis and uterine fibromatosis. In addition, it is used in the suppression of gonadal function in pediatric patients with central precocious puberty. The active ingredient, leuprorelin, acts as a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogue, which causes a decrease in the production of sex hormones, such as testosterone and estrogens, resulting in the reduction of the size of hormone-dependent tumors and improvement of symptoms associated with these conditions.

Composition

Each Lorelin ampule contains 11.25 mg of leuprorelin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its administration and stability.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to leuprorelin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with a history of osteoporosis or metabolic bone diseases, as well as in those with certain types of hormone-dependent tumors that are not suitable for treatment with GnRH agonists.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular disease, psychological disorders, or a history of seizures. Regular monitoring of hormone levels and the patient's general condition is important during treatment. Administration of leuprorelin may cause a temporary increase in prostate cancer symptoms at the beginning of treatment due to the hormonal "flare" effect.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
