Indications

Lixiana (Edoxaban) is indicated for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), as well as for the prevention of recurrence of these conditions. Lixiana acts as a direct factor Xa inhibitor, which reduces thrombin formation and, consequently, blood clot formation. Patient selection and risk factor assessment are fundamental for the use of this medication, thus ensuring its efficacy and minimizing associated risks.

Composition

Each Lixiana tablet contains 30 mg of Edoxaban, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication. It is recommended to consult the complete list of excipients in the product leaflet.

Contraindications

Lixiana is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Edoxaban or to any of the excipients of the medication. It should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic impairment, as well as in those with significant active bleeding or conditions that present a high risk of bleeding. Special care should be taken in patients with a history of bleeding or who are receiving treatment with other anticoagulants.

Precautions

Caution is recommended when using Lixiana in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment, as well as in those who are taking medications that may affect coagulation. Adequate monitoring during treatment and dose adjustment based on the patient's renal function are essential. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment without adequate medical supervision should be avoided.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
