Indications
Lipitor is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is used in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events. It is also prescribed as part of a comprehensive approach that includes lifestyle changes, such as a proper diet and exercise, to achieve a reduction in LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Additionally, Lipitor is useful in patients with isolated hypertriglyceridemia and in the prevention of coronary heart disease in individuals with risk factors.
Composition
Each Lipitor tablet contains 80 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with active liver disease or in those with persistent elevations of transaminases. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, or in those who are taking other medications that may interact with atorvastatin. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is important during treatment.

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
