Indications

Lincover (Lincomycin) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to lincomycin. These infections may include:

  • Respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, including abscesses and cellulitis.
  • Bone and joint infections, such as osteomyelitis and septic arthritis.
  • Dental infections, particularly in cases of periodontitis.
  • Infections in patients allergic to penicillin.

Lincomycin acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which results in the disruption of bacterial growth and multiplication. It is important to perform a culture and antibiogram before starting treatment to ensure the microorganism's sensitivity to the drug.

Composition

Each Lincover capsule contains 500 mg of lincomycin in the form of lincomycin hydrochloride.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lincomycin, clindamycin, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of infections caused by penicillin-susceptible organisms, such as Group A streptococci.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during treatment. In case of adverse reactions, the use of the medication should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
