Indications
Limustin (Tacrolimus) is indicated for the prevention of graft rejection in patients undergoing organ transplantation, such as kidney, liver, and heart. It is also used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. This medication works by inhibiting T lymphocyte activation, thereby reducing the body's immune response. Its use must be supervised by a physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's specific needs.
Composition
Each Limustin tablet contains 1 mg of tacrolimus as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients necessary for the formulation of the product, information for which is available on the medication packaging.
Contraindications
Limustin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tacrolimus or any component of the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe active infections, as the medication may increase the risk of infections. Likewise, its use in combination with certain drugs that affect hepatic metabolism must be carefully evaluated by the treating physician.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of renal function and serum tacrolimus levels is recommended during treatment. It is important to consider the risk of adverse effects, which may include kidney damage, hypertension, and increased susceptibility to infections. Limustin should not be administered during pregnancy unless strictly necessary and always under appropriate medical supervision. Patients should be informed about the importance of attending their medical appointments and undergoing recommended examinations.
