Indications
Leufotec is indicated for the prevention and treatment of hematological toxicities associated with the use of antimetabolites, as well as in the treatment of certain types of anemias. It is used in combination with chemotherapy to reduce side effects in patients receiving methotrexate and other chemotherapeutic agents. It is also indicated for restoring adequate folic acid levels in patients with nutritional deficiencies, malabsorption, or those who have suffered from gastrointestinal alterations. Its use is essential in the management of patients with oncological diseases and in therapies that require adequate nutritional support.
Composition
Each Leufotec tablet contains 15 mg of folinic acid as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
Leufotec is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to folinic acid or any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in patients with macrocytic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency, as it may mask the underlying condition. Its use in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to medications should be evaluated with caution.
Precautions
It is important to monitor patients receiving Leufotec, especially those undergoing methotrexate treatment, as improper administration can lead to reduced efficacy of oncological treatment. Special care should be taken in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in pregnant or lactating individuals. Periodic laboratory tests are recommended to evaluate treatment effectiveness and detect possible adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
