Indications
Lanoxin is indicated for the treatment of various cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of the sodium-potassium pump, which increases the force of heart contraction (positive inotropic effect) and helps regulate heart rhythm. It is important that its use be carried out under the supervision of a physician, who will assess the appropriate dose and monitor the treatment.
Composition
Each Lanoxin tablet contains:
- Digoxin: 0.25 mg
- Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Lanoxin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to digoxin or any of the components of the formula. It should also be avoided in cases of second or third-degree atrioventricular block, as well as in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Its use in the presence of severe ventricular arrhythmias should be carefully evaluated.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with kidney disease, as digoxin is primarily eliminated renally. Likewise, it is vital to monitor serum digoxin levels to avoid toxicity, especially in the elderly or those taking diuretics or medications that may interact with digoxin.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
