Indications
Lactulax Syrup is indicated for the treatment of occasional and chronic constipation. Its action is based on lactulose's ability to increase water content in the intestine, which facilitates intestinal transit and promotes smooth and effective evacuation. It can also be used in patients with hepatic encephalopathy, as it helps reduce blood ammonia levels.
Composition
Each 15 ml of Lactulax Syrup contains 10 g of lactulose as active ingredient. Excipients: purified water, flavoring, preservative.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lactulose or any of its components. It should not be used in cases of intestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation, or in patients with galactosemia.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Lactulax to patients with diabetes mellitus, as lactulose may affect blood glucose levels. Renal function should be evaluated before starting treatment. In case of persistent diarrhea or dehydration, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
