Indications

Kastandi is indicated for the treatment of major depression in adults. It is also used for the management of generalized anxiety disorder in adults. Additionally, it is prescribed for the treatment of diabetic neuropathic pain and for the management of chronic pain, especially in patients with fibromyalgia. The active ingredient, duloxetine, works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, which helps to improve mood and relieve pain.

Composition

Each Kastandi tablet contains 30 mg of duloxetine. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

Kastandi is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to duloxetine or to any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic impairment or severe renal insufficiency. It is contraindicated in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in patients who are being treated with other serotonergic antidepressants.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of manic-depressive disorders, a history of seizures, as well as in those at risk of developing narrow-angle glaucoma. Care should also be taken in patients who are taking anticoagulants or who have bleeding disorders.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
