Indications
Karpilmez (Caspofungin) is indicated for the treatment of invasive fungal infections, especially those caused by Candida and Aspergillus species. It is effective in the treatment of esophageal candidiasis, candidemia, and other systemic fungal infections, as well as in the prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly those who have received chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of fungal cell wall synthesis, which results in the pathogen's cell death.
Composition
Each Karpilmez ampule contains 50 mg of Caspofungin, in addition to excipients such as acetic acid, sodium chloride, and water for injection, which facilitate the intravenous administration of the medication.
Contraindications
Karpilmez is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to caspofungin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver damage, as well as in those receiving antifungal therapies that interfere with the same mechanism of action.
Precautions
Liver function monitoring is required during treatment, as it may cause elevations in transaminases. Caution should also be exercised in patients with impaired renal function. The safety and efficacy of Karpilmez have not been established in children under 18 years of age or in pregnant or lactating women, so its use in these groups should be carefully evaluated by a physician.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
