Indications
Kaposalt is indicated for the treatment of hypokalemia, which is a decrease in blood potassium levels. This medication is essential for the prevention and treatment of disorders related to potassium deficiency, especially in patients who have experienced significant losses of this electrolyte through vomiting, diarrhea, or the use of diuretics. It may also be recommended in cases of diseases affecting potassium absorption in the body and in situations where additional intake of this mineral is required to maintain proper muscle and cardiac function.
Composition
Each Kaposalt tablet contains: 766 mg of potassium salts, equivalent to 460 mg of elemental potassium.
Contraindications
Kaposalt is contraindicated in patients with hyperkalemia, which is an increase in blood potassium levels, as well as in those with severe renal insufficiency or diseases affecting renal function. It should not be administered in cases of severe dehydration or when conditions that may lead to excessive accumulation of potassium in the body are present.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Kaposalt in patients with heart conditions, as potassium can affect heart rhythm. It is important to regularly monitor blood potassium levels to avoid possible complications. Likewise, care should be taken in patients who are taking other medications that may influence potassium levels, such as certain diuretics or angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
