Indications
Incresina (Alogliptin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. This medication is used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin or a sulfonylurea, when these measures do not achieve adequate blood glucose control. Alogliptin acts by inhibiting the DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) enzyme, which results in an increase in incretin levels, hormones that help regulate glucose metabolism. Its use can contribute to the reduction of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and improve overall glycemic control.
Composition
Each Incresina tablet contains 25 mg of Alogliptin, as well as excipients q.s. to form the tablet.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Alogliptin or to any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Incresina in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as cases of acute pancreatitis have been reported in patients treated with DPP-4 inhibitors. Furthermore, it is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment, as the use of Alogliptin may be associated with an increase in creatinine levels. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
