Indications
Glucophage is indicated as a treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children over 10 years of age, especially in overweight patients. Its use is recommended to improve glycemic control in combination with diet and exercise. Metformin is particularly useful in patients who are not candidates for insulin therapy and in those who present glucose intolerance. Additionally, it can be used in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome for menstrual cycle regulation and improved insulin sensitivity.
Composition
Each tablet contains 850 mg of metformin as an active ingredient. Excipients: magnesium stearate, hypromellose, and other excipients according to the specific product formulation.
Contraindications
Glucophage is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal insufficiency, hepatic dysfunction, lactic acidosis, hypoxic conditions, and in patients who are going to undergo radiological studies with iodinated contrast.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney, liver, or cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor renal function before starting treatment and periodically during its use. It is also recommended to assess the risk of lactic acidosis, especially in elderly patients or those with conditions that may predispose to this complication.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
