Indications

Gelcupro is indicated for the treatment of severe nodular acne that has not responded to conventional treatments. Isotretinoin is a retinoid that works by reducing sebum production in the sebaceous glands, which contributes to a decrease in the formation of comedones and inflammatory lesions. It is also used in the treatment of other dermatological conditions that require more aggressive management, always under the supervision of a physician. It is important that the use of Gelcupro be under strict medical supervision, given its potential for adverse effects and the need for dosage control.

Composition

Each capsule contains: Isotretinoin 20 mg. Excipients: gelatin, glycerol, titanium dioxide, among others.

Contraindications

Gelcupro is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to isotretinoin or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, as it can cause severe birth defects. Furthermore, its use is contraindicated in patients with liver diseases, uncontrolled hyperlipidemias, and in those with a history of depression or severe psychiatric disorders.

Precautions

Regular monitoring of blood lipid levels and liver function tests are recommended during treatment. Patients should also be warned about the possibility of adverse effects such as xerosis, cheilitis, and alterations in night vision. Women of childbearing age should be informed about the need for a pregnancy prevention program before and during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 25°C.
