Indications
Gazyva is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in combination with chlorambucil. It is also indicated in patients with CLL who have received at least one prior therapy, in combination with bendamustine. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of follicular lymphoma in combination with chemotherapy in patients who have received at least one prior therapy. Obinutuzumab acts as a monoclonal antibody that binds to the CD20 protein on the surface of B cells, resulting in immune system-mediated cell destruction. Its use should be evaluated by an oncology specialist, considering the patient's health status and disease progression.
Composition
Each ml of Gazyva contains 25 mg of obinutuzumab. Excipients are: acetic acid, sodium acetate, sodium chloride, water for injection.
Contraindications
Gazyva is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to obinutuzumab or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe active infections and in those who have experienced anaphylactic reactions to other monoclonal antibodies.
Precautions
Special caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions, as well as in those with previous infections. Monitoring for infections during and after treatment is recommended. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Storage
Gazyva should be stored refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep in its original packaging, protected from light. Once opened, the product must be used immediately or can be stored at 25 °C for a maximum of 24 hours.
