Indications
Gantena (Rosuvastatin) is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with established cardiovascular disease or those with elevated risk factors. This medication works by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which results in a decrease in LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and an increase in HDL cholesterol levels. Gantena is used as part of a comprehensive approach that includes an adequate diet, exercise, and control of other cardiovascular risk factors.
Composition
Each Gantena tablet contains 10 mg of Rosuvastatin as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Gantena is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations in transaminases. Likewise, it is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, or those taking other medications that may interact with Rosuvastatin. Regular monitoring of liver function is important during treatment. The risk-benefit ratio should be evaluated in patients with a history of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis.
Storage
Gantena should be stored at room temperature, in a dry and cool place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
