Indications

Fosfocil is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to fosfomycin. These infections include uncomplicated acute cystitis and other urinary infections. Fosfomycin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial death. It is recommended that the use of this medication be under medical supervision, and an accurate diagnosis should be made before administration.

Composition

Each 5 mL of Fosfocil contains 250 mg of fosfomycin (as trometamol), as well as excipients such as purified water and other components that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the excipients in the formulation. Likewise, it should not be administered to patients with severe renal insufficiency or those with a history of serious adverse reactions to antibacterial agents of the same class.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may affect renal function. Renal function tests are recommended before and during treatment. The possibility of developing bacterial resistance during prolonged use of the medication should also be considered.

Storage

Fosfocil should be stored at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Keep in a dry place and away from direct light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package. Keep out of reach of children.
