Indications

Fosfocil is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by fosfomycin-sensitive microorganisms, including cystitis and urethritis. This medication works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. It is important that the use of Fosfocil be based on pathogen identification and susceptibility, to ensure treatment effectiveness. Likewise, it is recommended to consider the patient's medical history and the possible presence of recurrent infections.

Composition

Each Fosfocil capsule contains 500 mg of fosfomycin as trometamol, along with necessary excipients for product formulation.

Contraindications

Fosfocil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the components of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as drug elimination may be affected.

Precautions

It is recommended to use Fosfocil with caution in patients with a history of kidney disease. In addition, renal function should be assessed before starting treatment and during its use. In case of severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered and treatment should be discontinued.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
