Indications

Fosfocil (fosfomycin) is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections, including uncomplicated cystitis in women. It is used in cases of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to fosfomycin, such as Escherichia coli and other gram-negative pathogens. This medication works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death and resolution of the infection. It is important that the use of Fosfocil be based on the susceptibility of the microorganism responsible for the infection.

Composition

Each capsule contains 500 mg of fosfomycin trometamol, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age, unless specifically indicated by a doctor. Likewise, it should be avoided in patients with severe kidney disease.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease and in those who are being treated with other antibiotics. During treatment, adequate hydration is recommended to facilitate drug elimination and prevent crystalluria. Monitor clinical evolution and, if no improvement is observed, re-evaluate the treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
