Indications
Folinic acid is primarily used in the treatment of cancer patients receiving methotrexate therapy, as it acts as an antidote and reduces methotrexate toxicity in normal tissues. It is also used in the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-associated toxicity in certain types of cancer. Additionally, folinic acid can be used in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents to enhance their therapeutic efficacy. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions regarding the appropriate dosage and treatment regimen.
Composition
Each ampoule of Focidat contains 50 mg of folinic acid, in addition to the excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Focidat is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to folinic acid or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in cases of megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency, as it may mask the condition and lead to complications.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those who are receiving concomitant treatments that may interact with folinic acid. Adequate monitoring during treatment is essential to avoid adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
