Indications

Fluanxol Depot (Flupentixol) is indicated for the treatment of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and mood disorders. It is used in patients requiring long-term management who may benefit from intramuscular administration of an antipsychotic. This formulation allows for prolonged release of the drug, facilitating treatment adherence in patients who have difficulties with oral therapy. Additionally, Fluanxol can be used in the treatment of manic episodes and in the prevention of relapses in stabilized patients. It is important that the indication and treatment are supervised by a specialist physician.

Composition

Each ampoule of Fluanxol Depot contains 20 mg of Flupentixol (as Flupentixol decanoate) in 1 ml of injectable solution.

Contraindications

Fluanxol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to flupentixol or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of agranulocytosis or leukopenia, as well as those with Parkinson's disease or coma due to intoxication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Fluanxol to patients with a history of seizures, cardiovascular diseases, or those with conditions that may predispose to hyperthermia. Monitoring is important in patients with a history of hematological problems. Additionally, concurrent use with other medications that may increase the risk of central nervous system-related adverse effects is recommended to be avoided.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, protected from light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
