Indications
Flonorm (Rifaximin) is indicated for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is primarily used in the treatment of traveler's diarrhea and in the prevention of episodes of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with chronic liver disease. Rifaximin is an antibacterial that acts directly on the intestine, reducing bacterial load and improving gastrointestinal symptoms. It is important that this medication be used under medical supervision to ensure its appropriate indication and treatment of the specific conditions for which it is prescribed.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Rifaximin 100 mg, excipients: sorbitol, citric acid, purified water, among others. The formulation is suitable for oral administration and has characteristics that favor treatment tolerance and efficacy.
Contraindications
Flonorm is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to rifaximin or to any of the components of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with diarrhea caused by invasive bacterial infections, such as Salmonella, Shigella, or Campylobacter. Likewise, it should not be used in cases of severe renal or hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those presenting symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Adequate medical follow-up is recommended during treatment, especially in patients with pre-existing conditions that may complicate the treatment response.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
