Indications
Flonorm is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible strains of various bacteria. Its use has been shown to be effective in treating traveler's diarrhea, as well as in managing small intestine bacterial overgrowth. In addition, it is used to reduce ammonia production in patients with hepatic encephalopathy, contributing to the improvement of symptoms and the patient's quality of life. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a healthcare professional, who will determine the appropriate duration and dosage according to the patient's clinical characteristics.
Composition
Each Flonorm tablet contains 550 mg of rifaximin as the active ingredient. In addition, it may contain excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Flonorm is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rifaximin or to any of the product's excipients. Its use should also be avoided in patients with intestinal obstruction or in those with severe liver failure.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Flonorm in patients with a history of kidney or liver disease, as well as in those with persistent or bloody diarrhea. Appropriate clinical monitoring is important to detect any possible adverse effects or complications during treatment. Furthermore, Flonorm is not recommended for use during pregnancy or lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
